Officially the Awesomest Point and Shoot Camera

Nikon-S1000PJ-projecting
You snap a digital photo. 12.1 Megapixels. Standard of the day. And then, right from your handy camera apparatus, you can PROJECT your images onto any nearby surface. Amazing, no? It’s the Nikon CoolPix S70, to release in September ’09 at $249.99. Digital cameras are stepping their instant gratification game up. First Polaroid steps into the digital age, now this? I’m about to become a junkie. Or, maybe I’ll just wait a decade or so for the hologram projecting camera phones that you’ve seen in the movies. Yeah…

PoGo. I want one.

At last..Polaroid has done it again. Ever since the SX-70, Polaroid has been ahead of the game using cutting edge technology to satisfy our human need to snap pictures and hold them instantly. I think it’s pretty noteworthy to state that I have never purchased a digital still camera. Ever. I do, however have a number of 35mm cameras and two Polaroids (including, of course, an SX-70). But now, I’m ready to buy. I want the PoGo.

It’s a digital camera you can print directly from…in traditional Polaroid fashion. And they use Zink (zero-ink)! It’s a new technology that took 100 patents pending to develop. It’s ingenious. Zink is basically a paper that has embedded yellow, magenta and cyan dye crystals that become colorized using heat activation. “!!!!!!!”

It’s moments like these when I love technology. Of course I’m not about to run out and buy the first make of the PoGo. No. I’ll let the guinea pigs have their go at it, allow time for Polaroid to work out the kinks they’ve tested on those with no patience and disposable income, then I’ll go and buy the 2nd or 3rd make. Just like my Grandfather taught me. It’ll probably be a lot less pricey, too. For now, I’ll play with one at a store.
