Since you been gone…

I know I’ve been slow on the blog posts lately. I’m sorry. It’s been a mixture of things…Michael’s passing really affected me. It did. Plus I have this new will power exercise that is changing my lifestyle quite a bit. I’m more productive, which is great…well, except for yesterday when I sat and watched like 12 episodes of 30 Rock on Netflix (that show is hilarious!!) while eating an entire batch of brownies :/ – Oh, and I’ve recently become obsessed with the video function on Photobooth. So…yeah. New rules in my domain. Gotta find a way to fit you in in a respectable way. Don’t wanna turn you into yet another of my semi-abandoned blogs.

I’m working on that. But for now, know that I’m working constantly on self improvement. Plus, those who know anything about astrology will know that I, a Piscean am being challenged greatly by Saturn right now. Hence, I’m spending a lot of alone time figuring things out – reaffirming my moral fiber, if you will. Will you….?

World AIDS Day

What does it really mean to me? Bloggers across the interweb are uniting by posting blogs today about AIDS.
But really…what does it mean to me??? Well, for starters, for me it means knowing my status and the status of whomever I choose to be sexually active with. Sex is a very dangerous gamble, but it doesn’t have to be if people are unafraid to be aware and to discuss. I mean, I know its not very romantic…kissing, caressing and asking if your partner has been tested don’t flow very well. That’s why I recommend breaking down “the science” before “breaking it down”.
It’s kinda trippy that an experience as wonderful as sex could lead to such detriment.

I’ve read stories of young people in areas of the world where AIDS is about as common as the flu. Some have adopted a “c’est la vie” attitude over the possibility of contracting the deadly virus. If it happens, it happens and I’ll just have to accept my fate…which may not be such a difficult thing to imagine if so many others around you are suffering from the disease. Can you imagine being a parent and hearing these words come out of your teenage child’s mouth?

Conspiracies aside, AIDS is killing people of African descent at an alarming and growing rate. It’s very scary. I filmed an interview of a 13 year old Latina-American girl. She was angry that so much talk goes around about curing cancer, but there still is no cure. She believes if people stop talking so much and really focus on a cure that a cure will be found. How long have we been searching for the cure for AIDS? Too long, in my opinion. Human beings are intelligent. And when pushed to the limit, we can achieve the impossible. Apparently, human kind has not yet reached “the limit”. How much further do we have to go?
